Learn more about how Fire Rock came to exist and how it is making a difference for many small businesses across America. The culture of this agency is vastly different than its peers in the market. Although growth is essential, we feel it’s important to maintain our small business and entrepreneurial spirit alive internally. As a small business ourselves, we fully understand another’s limitations and challenges first hand. We work as a communications partner for each one of our clients.
The Agency: A Brief Overview
In 1991, the earliest signs of Fire Rock Productions came alive in Cambridge, MA as Diana Rohini La Vigne launched her first full scale publicity campaign, The Liz Claiborne's American Red Cross Benefit Fashion Show. Working directly with Liz Claiborne's corporate headquarters in New York City, she was able to gain considerable press coverage and helped raise a significant amount of funds and awareness for the cause.
Using acquaintances developed via that successful event, Ms. La Vigne was able to leverage them for other local charities and charitable events in the Greater Boston region. These are some of the more notable charitable events: American Stroke Foundation Charity Wine Tasting ’01 Advisory, Arts Festival of Boston Publicity Coordinator ‘98 & ‘99, AIDS Action Committee Events & Publicity Coordinator for Boomerangs Grand Opening ’96 & 1st Year Anniversary ’97, BNN TV 9 Publicist for The Season Kick Off Event ’00-‘03, Boston Ballet's Hot & Cool Benefit ’96 Advisory, Boston Camera Club Model of the Year ‘91-97 Publicist , Boys & Girls Club Benefit Fashion Show '93 Associate, Coolidge Corner Arts Festival '01Publicist, Designer Wreath & Menorah Auction ’97-‘99 Publicist, Fenway Community Health Center Hot Cajun Holiday with Harry Connick Jr. ‘94 Coordinator, Maine’s Children Cancer Project Castles in the Air ‘91-96 Associate Show Producer, Newbury Street Holiday Stroll ’97-‘99 Publicist, Boston Globe Jazz & Blues Festival ’97-’99 Communications Liaison for Newbury Street Events.
After years of assisting in various public relations capacities, Ms. La Vigne started using her existing networks to develop programs and organizations from the ground up. The first project started as joint venture with two associates. One associate had an idea to start a Fashion Week event for Boston to follow in the steps of New York, Paris and Milan. His idea started with a founding team of three, which included Diana Rohini La Vigne. From concept to implementation, her public relations and networking skills were helpful in bringing this venture to life. Each founding member brought different talents from a fashion designer to a photographer and then to Ms. La Vigne's communication and public relations expertise. The team developed a long standing successful annual event that still exists today under different management. From her Fashion Week experience, she worked with starting a mentor organization called Samta International. As part of their original founding team, she was vital to their branding, public affairs and public relations efforts. After relocating to warmer weather in South Florida later, Ms. La Vigne quickly got involved with helping develop a new public relations organization called Gold Coast Public Relations Council. This organization has since been a leader in providing Greater Boca Raton area public relations professionals a community to call their own.
As the internet became more acceptable to the media industry, Ms. La Vigne then began to use its power to bring old New England based clients back into the fold, build up the agency client base, and to continued looking for a permanent home for Fire Rock Productions. Early in 2005, Fire Rock Productions found their permanent home in the San Francisco Bay area of California. Keeping many clients on the East Coast, Fire Rock is able to run full scale public relations campaigns using leading technology solutions, to supplement occasional on site client visits. Our current clients come from the states of New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Florida and California. Since our relocation, we've added new staff and developed an internship program.
